VUMC Division of Animal Care
Vanderbilt University affirms the important role animal research plays in advancing society’s understanding of human and animal health. We are committed to seeing that animals used in biomedical research and education are treated with respect and receive the best possible care. Vanderbilt maintains a program of animal care and use that meets federal and local laws and guidelines and is voluntarily accredited by the Association for the Assessment of Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care, International (AAALAC).
The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee is a federally mandated university committee that ensures that the care and use of animals is appropriate and humane, in accordance with animal welfare regulations. The IACUC establishes policy and procedure on animal care and use for the institution.
