Overview of Services

Mission of the HIV Clinical Research Core

The HIV Clinical Research Core aims to improve improve the quality of life of people living with HIV and to reduce the burden of HIV/AIDS by supporting HIV research.  This Core primarily supports work associated with the AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) and the Tennessee Center for AIDS Research (CFAR). This Core is staffed by clinical personnel associated with the Vanderbilt Therapeutics Clinical Research Site and the CFAR Clinical Sciences core.

The HIV Clinical Research Core primarily supports prospective clinical research studies and provides the following services:

  • Expertise in HIV and clinical research
  • Consultation for study design and protocol development
  • IRB and Regulatory support
  • Recruitment and Enrollment of people living with HIV into clinical research studies
  • Data management
  • Study procedures and data collection
  • Specimen collection and processing, including PBMCs
  • Safety monitoring and clinical assessments
  • Investigational drug administration and management
