The goal of the Molecular Cell Biology Resource (MCBR) Core is to provide researchers convenient access to the reagents and instruments needed to carry out research as efficiently and inexpensively as possible.

The MCBR Core is located in rooms 902 and 904 Light Hall.

The MCBR Core consists of four components:

• A Product Store/Stockroom. Shop for reagents, kits, enzymes, etc. at below catalog pricing. Shopping in our stockroom is easy with self-checkout. The stockroom is always open. Shopping can also be done online with our searchable catalog with free delivery to your lab.

• A DNA/RNA oligo and siRNA ordering service. We have partnered with IDT and MilliporeSigma/Genosys, so that you can order DNA/RNA oligo’s from these companies through a company/MCBR Core-specific website. Ordering oligo’s through the MCBR Core is less expensive than ordering directly from these companies. Shipping is free and your oligo orders are billed directly to your billing number through iLab. You may order using these online accounts or by emailing one of our order forms to DNAcore@vumc.org. Please see details under "Service List" on our iLab site or contact the MCBR Core for instructions for setting up your IDT or Sigma Custom Products account so that it will be properly linked to the VUMC MCBR Core as well as your iLab account.

• An Instrument Facility (room 904 Light Hall). This room houses high-end imaging instrumentation and real-time PCR systems that can be reserved for use through our online reservation system. Users can get technical assistance from the Core staff on the use of any of the MCBR Core instruments.

• A Cell Culture Media Preparation Service (room 904 Light Hall). Custom media for cultured cells is prepared according to your specifications through our collaboration with the VUMC Cell Culture Supplies Core.

Billing Number Activation

VUMC Investigators with VUMC center numbers:

All VUMC billing numbers are activated in iLab via a nightly feed from Workday. Grant Worktags are auto-assigned to the PI's lab group. All other funds (Cost Centers, Gift or Program Worktags) must be claimed within the PI's Lab Group.

VU Investigators with VU CoA or POET numbers:
VU users will manage the VU billing numbers via the webform on the VUMC Office of Research website.

Vanderbilt Investigators with VA (Veteran Affairs) funding:

Contact the VUMC Office of Research at VUMCcores@vumc.org to request access to your VA funding. All investigators with VA funding are assigned a VA billing number (999999xxxx). The VUMC Office of Research manages VA billing numbers in coordination with the VA Research Administration.
